Can I return my cat?

I bought her at Petsmart and I don't want her anymore. She's all smelly and like, licks herself all the time.

So will I get a refund back? Or can I exchange my cat for a dog instead?

Ugh - that is gross. I think your cat is defective. Take it back and make sure you speak to a manager so they know just how defective their merchandise is.

See if they'll give you a goldfish in exchange. Less smelly.

Exchange it for a stuffed one a Walmart you don't have to smell them , feed them or worry about them drinking from your toilet and l*****g your face .

If I understand this right, you want to exchange a cat (a clean, quiet creature) for a dog (a noisy animal that jumps on you, poops and pees wherever it's convenient, doesn't care if it gets dirty, and barks loudly).  Normally, I wouldn't advocate giving up an animal, but obviously, you don't know enough about animals to have one, and you're doing a huge disservice to your cat by keeping her.  I doubt that PetSmart will take her back or allow you to exchange her, so I think you should find a friend or family member (someone who actually cares about animals) to take her.  If you can't do that, call a no-kill animal shelter and see if they have room for her.  If that's not a possibility, then I guess you'll have to take her to the Humane Society or another animal shelter in your area, and hopefully, she'll be adopted by somebody nice.  Just don't, under any circumstances, dump her on the side of the road, like one of the other answerers said -- that's cruel and ILLEGAL.  Also, I can just about guarantee that if you can't handle having a cat, you won't be able to handle a dog either -- I've had both and I love both, but dogs require a lot more work on the owner's part than cats do.  So please just don't get ANY pets.

Only if you had it for, like, a week. Then you can't take it back. Believe me. i tried with my parakeets. He's schizophrenic, but when I tried to take him back to get a different one, they wouldn't take him because I had him too long. Now he gets scared everytime the water goes on, even though they are supposed to like that. it is like, SO annoying!

if this is your first cat, than you should no that all animals l**k themselves. they do this to clean themselves. even dogs like themselves so it would make no difference if you exchanged it for a dog! second of all, all animals smell different than us humans. They may not smell like roses or vanilla icecream, but thats not the reason why you shouldn't love them!

since you obviously cannot return an animal, please drop of the cat at a no-kill animal pound. I personally do not think that you are an "animal person".so, try a fish!

Umm im not sure if they will give you a refund back. But you could try to find a friend or someone that will take it. Or even a different pet store.

I got a cat at petsmart a couple of weeks ago to keep my current cat company. The cats are really from an animal shelter, so the money is usually considered a donation to the animal shelter. So, even though your money isn't going to waste, you probably won't get it back. I understand regret over the new cat, because I returned the one I got after she did not get along with my cat, but maybe you should give your new kitty a few days.

Long answer, it would be best to find a new home for the animal if you've decided that you cannot look after the animal.

Before you get your next pet I would suggest that you do a little research to see what is expected of "you".

I would give the cat a chance.they l**k themselves all the time because they are grooming . cats are a very neat and clean animal . You should clean out the litter every two days... A dog well they can really be gross because they will get into you trash cans and chew up furniture...  Just call Petsmart and ask them .Usually they will exchange an animal .jl dailey
