Can I reuse my Tide laundry detergent container to store drinking water? Is there a way to clean it out?

I have a large Tide container with a spout that I would like to use for drinking water on camping trips, etc. How would I clean it out safely? If not, I'm assuming it would be safe to use only for washing hands when camping? Thanks!

  1. Well, here's the deal. I'll bet if you flush the container thoroughly, it will become clean, and then you can drink water from the container.

However, for me, I think I would never really feel like the jug was clean, and in the back of my mind, I'd always feel like I could, possibly, be drinking soapy water.

I don't know if you would also feel this way, but I would just never feel like the jug was really clean.

Therefore, I think that if I were you, I would use the Tide container to hold water to wash my hands with.

I would get a clean jug that had never had anything kept in it before to hold my drinking water.

This is what I would do, at any rate. :)

  2. I'd say just use it to wash your hands and buy an actual jug/cooler thing for drinking water.
