A friend of mine bet $50 that I couldn't run 100 yards under 25 seconds. I am fairly athletic - I lift weights, swim and do cardio at the gym however, I do not run. I have terrible biomechanics, bad pronation especially on the right foot, so I just avoid running. I'm female in my mid 20s. I have a background in long distance swimming and I'm not sure that I even have any fast twitch fibers! How easy or difficult is it to run 100 yards under 25 seconds for a non-runner and non-sprinter? ie how much of a chance do you think I have to win some money? and what suggestions would you have to help me when I try to run it? Thanks!

  1. i know and old women that can speed walk that in under 25 seconds and she is my mother....haha piece of cake you got that.

  2. Running 100 yards in under 25 seconds is extremely easy. Olympic sprinters run 100 meters in under 10 seconds. To be at 25 seconds all you have to do is jog for 100 yards and even if you were to sprint you could do it in about 17 seconds

  3. I'm out of shape and have a bad knee and can still run 100 in 25 seconds. That's just not a very fast time for 100 yards. If you are in any kind of shape at all you should be able to do it.

If you're not sure though, sneak off to the track by yourself and try it first before accepting the bet.

  4. For 25 Seconds to be a 100 yard time it is not very fast and even the majority of non-athletic, non-runners should be able to do it.  To have a bit of perspective on speed, someone running just under a 7 minute mile is doing 25sec 100's....over and over

  5. running a 100 yards in under 25 seconds is easy I know a kid in 5th grade who ran it in 17.4 you could probally do it in like 14 seconds
