Can I run 3 miles under 25 mins in 12 days?

I need to practice for cross country and the time trail is on Aug 21. So far I can run 2 miles in 17 mins 30 seconds. That's 7 mins and 30 seconds left to run another mile. I havn't actually tried to run 3 miles yet. I can run about 1 mile, maybe a mile and a half straight without stopping. I walk for about 10-20 seconds and than i run like 2/6th of a mile and than stop and walk again. I run 2 miles every day. I plan to start running 3 miles a day on monday. Can I do it?

  1. sure u can do it. what's killing u are the walks. u're never supposed to walk. just fight through the pain. im sure u can do it if u tried

    That doesn't mean you should just give up, however.

    When you train, avoid the walk breaks, set your goals past those walk breaks. Sure it may hurt, but really, no pain no gain, it's that push and strain on your muscles that notifies your brain to make them stronger, to endure more. Vary up your workouts, switch between short sprint speed workouts and those distance workouts. This will ultimately give you stronger muscles to endure the strain. As my main point, don't stop when you want to, tell yourself that you have to push through it, and do it. Best of luck.

  3. hmm this will be hard truthfully...because two weeks of training doesnt do much but never walk push trough it as best you can...but if you go on long runs...bout 40-50 minutes every day youll build endurance..but dont jog it..and push the pace a little..
