Can I run a sub woofer?...

Can I run a DD audio 2512a series sub, on a zx1500 watt amp, at 1500 watts?...or will the amp blow?...

  1. Doubling the RMS rating of the sub is never a good idea. The amp will probably be okay. But, you'll cook the sub. If Digital Designs makes them in a dual 2 ohm, get two of them. Then you'll be okay.

    Or, go for a 3500 or 9500 series. They can both handle the power that amp will produce.  


  2. the peak/max is 3000watts (in car audio peak.max mean nothing, all you care about is the RMS wattage) but the RMS wattage is only 750watts and since its a 4ohm SVC sub it will give you a 4ohm load at the amp so it looks like a perfect match to me because the amp will put out 750watts RMS @ 4ohms

  4. You can run it at 1500 rms if the enclosure is tuned low enough, if you take that sub with that kind of power too far below it tuning freq. you will cook it , i have had a 3000 d class on 2- 2510a's with out a problem, but it was tuned @ 32hz

    I would recommend running the 3500 series just to be safe though.
