Question:

Can I run conduit from a flood light receptacle?

I want to put an extension ring on an outside floodlight receptacle which would give me a threaded knock out to run conduit. On the circuit would be the flood light, and 2 boxes (a pendant light on each box). Is this possible or even safe?

  1. You can do that to add the conduit safely. As far as the load is concerned, what else is on the circuit. If not much else is on the circuit, you will probably ok. Do not just increase the breaker size to stop nuisance trips as this could cause a fire.

  2. Sure you can..The floodlight does not burn enough amps to effect whatever you want to use on the new  boxes

  3. The best thing to do is to get a free quote from a licensed electrician, that way he will tell you what needs to be done, then you say thanks I will ring you back when I'm ready.
