I have really bad shin splints. They hurt with every step during track practice but I am still required to run. I know I am not running well at all this year compared to last year. Should I just take it easy from now on and just get heal and get better to prepare for next year?

  1. I would let your body rest now so you can do better next year. If you want to prevent shinsplit, you can strengthen your ankles and shins by writing the alphabet with you feet. It's helped me.

  2. You could run through the pain, but you'd be absolutely stupid to.

If your doctor has advised you to rest, do so. It will do you no good to train hard now if you do permanent damage to your legs.

  3. You can still run. You know that you are making it worse and it will take longer to heal. I had to stop and just ride a bike or do the stair master. That decision is up to you. If you can let it heal I would but you have to be ok with that decision.
