My husband planted them about two months ago and did his research so that he planted them correctly. Now he's deployed and the darn things are dying!! One is all dry and brown, I think it's completely dead. The others are following suit. Can I save these? What do I do? Please help!

  1. You need to find out if the roots are still aive.

You are going to have to bring up the whole plant.

Look carefully for any living part...then you have a chance.

Where they were planted, dig the hole double the size , put organic matter at the bottom...set the plant back in.

Around the sides use good soil that retains moisture and ut it around the plant. Before covering up the whole plant water around the root area and new soil with Miracle grow.

Cover the rest of the plant, making sure the roots are covered well.

    Top with mulch.

Water a bit everyday till you feel they are doing well again.

      That is your best bet.

Manure would be great in there too.

  2. have you watered them?.... this is a very 'low maintenance' plant and all it really needs is moist soil to start out ......

if it's been very hot and dry and there's been no rain, it's possible the brown one is done for..... water the others if you think that's the problem.... otherwise, since he planted them correctly after his research, then there's nothing else they need....

if there's mulch around them, on top of the soil, that's good... if there isn't, then you might do that to help hold moisture IN the soil.... get some 'Pine bark chips or chunks or mulch" at Lowe's or Home Depot or a store like that.... spread  the mulch a couple inches deep, all around the plants after you've watered them good..... then check every other day or so, by feeling with your fingers, to see if the ground is still moist or if it's dry and needs water..... he left you something to take care of while he was gone.... you may want to replace the all brown one , but I'd let it wait for him to do when he gets home...
