I had a felony arrest in 1998 that i plead down to a misdemeanor with deferred adjutication for 1 year. I have Bachelors degree in Finance and have 6 years sales experience and want to work for a bank but I don't think I can pass the U-4 criminal background check. Can I submit the form and see if I pass before I take all of the courses and the tests required that way I don't waste my time? Tests required are 6,63,and life ins. Any help is appreciated

  1. It's not going to stop you from getting your license, but NO ONE is going to hire you.

  2. The biggest things they look for a finance related felony's.  Only put on the apps what is on the books.  You were charged with a felony on arrest and convicted of a misdemeanor.  The felony was discharged.  I saw you have a 50/50 shot on the backgrounds.  And depending on how the companies check, and what they check for, it may also be a 50/50.

Frankly, the tests and application fees are not cheep.  Best to have someone sponsor them.  My company pays for the 6/63 and Life Only tests (and the study material for them) in Texas as long as you meet certain guidelines (bar is actually set pretty low on them to).  But you would have to get in the door first.  And our background check, I believe, is more stringent than the Feds since we want to make sure you GET the 6/63 license.

If in DFW, message me and we can see about helping with that.   Point of note though, we are not a bank.

  3. For the insurance part, the answer is almost certainly Yes.  Especially if you apply in Nevada.  (It can take less than two weeks to establish residency in our state, allowing you to apply for the resident license here.  Then you can apply for non-resident licenses in other states.

For the securities part, you can be sure the arrest will come up.  But since you were not convicted of such a crime, you can probably skate.

I would hire you in a heartbeat to allow you to submit the U-4.

The tests for 6 and 63 are not required in advance.

If you need someone to sponsor you, contact me through my site, www.EndlessLegacy.US

Or, click onto my icon to the left, then send me an eMail through Yahoo Answers.

    Fair enough?
