Can I sell a vehicle that has been left on my property for over 2 months?

Question

A young man car stopped and he asked if he could leave it in my yard until the weekend. I said yes but he has never came back to get the car...it has been over 2 months. I have talked with the young man on a couple of occasions and each time he states that he will come and get it. I do not want to tow at my expense but I would love to sell it. I do not know if he is making payments on the car or not.

just call the police and tell them it was left there, they will call a tow company and make arrangements to call the owner or tow it at no cost to you

You cannot legally sell what you do not own.  

I would try to contact the owner and give him one final warning to remove it ( within a specific time frame...say 24 hours ) or it will be towed.  If he does not remove it, call the police and tell them that there is a vehicle parked illegally on your property.  They will remove it for you and charge the owner various fines for illegal parking and the associated towing and impounding fees as well.

You can't sell it(you don't have the papers of ownership, however.....) the vehicle has been abondoned.       This is something the police would have jurisdiction over.   They will first check to see if the vehicle is stolen - they may impound it and stick it in their impound lot.   They tow it out.   You would be best to contact them to see the best course to take.   But you do not have any obligation to keep it in your yard.   If it is "hot"  you definitely do not want it.

well ya  cant sell her if she aint yos but call da police,they will prob impound it.

You cannot sell it. You don't own it.

Contact a wrecker company and have it removed from your property.

They'll have to send certified mail to the registered owner and he'll have to pay the wrecker and storage fees.
