Can I sell my fence for scrap?

I have a wire fence in my backyard I would love to get rid of. The neighbors have installed privacy fences on either side and there are weeds there I can't get it. It makes my yard look trashy. If I rip the fencing out, can I take it to the scrap yard? How would I dispose of it otherwise?

The answer is yes, there are people on craigslist.org that will pick up anything metal you have. No charge to you but you will have to remove it.
