Well, I've had my Ipod for about 3 years now, and the battery is pretty much toast. It only lasts about 25 minutes before dying.

Can I send it in and get a replacement battery, or, can I buy my own and install it myself?

  1. Apple charges $66 for battery replacement. Information for this is avaliable on their website.

Other thrid party companies replace the battery as well- nftechservices.com among others.

  2. This is what it says on the Apple website:

"If your iPod is no longer covered by Apple's One Year Limited warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod, you may replace the battery for a fee under the Out-of-Warranty Battery Program. See the iPod Battery Replacement Program page for more information."

Apparently you can send in your iPod and for a fee of $59 plus $6.95 for shipping, they will replace it if the only problem is that your battery will no longer hold a charge.
