  1. you're obviously doing it wrong.

  2. Sure you can if your receiver offers

that option -most newer ones do.

Just refer to your owner's manual

and it should tell you how to adjust

your surround sound to a 3 channel

surround (i.e. thus turning off the rear

speakers and the sub and running your

center channel and main speakers full range).

  3. I personally feel the whole surround sound thing is way overrated.  I have been using two good quality speakers and a two channel Denon AV receiver for years and I get great sound from the TV and DVD's.

Just buy an good quality AV receiver and two good speakers.  You may have to set the receiver to 2 channel mode.  You may be pleasantly suprised with the results. Keep it simple.

  4. well i dont know where you would find a 2 channel home theater there is 2.1 channel or 3.1 but most are overpriced compared to 5.1 or 7.1 so i would stick with the tv speakers or get a good 7.1 like this one i would recommend but could be to expensive to your taste but i dont know what tv you have to have a proper choice. and i dont know if you are saying you have a home theater already or if you are going to get one but if you get a 5.1 and want to set up just 2 speakers you can switch your surround system from 5.1 to 2.1 with a click of a button.
