  1. If you don't mind paying a large fine! Smuggling is a crime.

  2. I always pack a bottle of Capt Morgan..the big one.  No mouthwash or water bottles.  Four cruises...no problems.

  3. yea..bring a bottle or 2...pack it way in the back of the luggage!

  4. You are paying quite a bit for the cruise.  Why not just decide that buying a few drinks a day is part of the cruise expense instead of the juvenile idea of sneaking alcohol aboard?  It is time you grow up.

  5. Also, on your cruise documentation (in all the fine print), it usually will state that you are allowed to bring so much soda on board, as well as 1 bottle of wine (at least that is how Carnival was).  All luggage is scanned for safety reasons and as long as you'd put the alcohol in a mouthwash bottle, it shouldn't be a problem.  I highly recommend reading that fine print though.  We went on our honeymoon and had toy handcuffs in our suitcase...well..as we were boarding the ship, we got taken back into the dock by security and had to toss out the handcuffs...aparently, even though they were only toy ones, they are considered "dangerous".  LOL

  6. Everyone is going to tell you different things, but sure you can.  I wouldnt bring the water or soda, jsut buy a soda card, they are only about $25-35 for the week, I always take alcohol on board with me, I have cruised about 8 times and never had a problem. The worst thing that is going to happen is that they will take it, but doubtful. Wrap clothes around it, or put it int he middle of your clothes.

  7. Every cruise I've been on (8 and counting), We've brought on wine and like several bottles. We have never had any problems. We just pack the wine bottles in the center of the suitcase wrapped in bubble wrap. They have thousands of pieces of luggage comming aboard each week. I don't think they have time to check for stuff like alcohol. Don't bring illegal drugs though. They do have sniffing dogs.

  8. If you do sneak alcohol on board, don't use mouthwash bottles. Your liquor will taste like the mouthwash you use. And will ruin your trip.

  9. It's technically not allowed, and maybe not super-classy, but plenty of people do it.

Just put it in your checked luggage (that doesn't generally get searched) and put it in plastic containers (mouthwash bottles seem to be popular) in plastic zip-lock bags (so if it breaks your clothes aren't ruined).

No need to bring actual water.  The ship's water is totally fine.  And you are allowed to bring soda if you wish.  That said, it's not all that expensive onboard -- around $2 a can, or $35 for a week-long all-you-can-drink card (on Carnival).

If this is your first cruise, you might like the Know Before You Go guide, which talks about what to pack, how to stay healthy, when it's better to book a shore excursion through the cruise line vs. independent, etc:
