Question:

Can I spray paint glass, then have it submerged in my fishbowl, and paint wont come off?

or what do you suggest, if not spray paint... I want to paint this glass bowl, to put inside my glass bvowl, so that the fish has a hiding spot

  1. try sprayin it and then coating it in a clear varnish.


  2. DON'T use regular paint at all. The chemicals will leach out into the water and kill the fish.

    There is such a thing as dishwasher-safe and food-safe glass paint, from an art supply or really good craft store. You generally bake the piece once you have painted it.

    HOWEVER -- I would not do this with fish without clearing it with a fish expert. Fish are quite delicate when it comes to chemicals. When a company says food-safe, they aren't talking about constant exposure and they aren't talking about a nervous system the size of a peanut.

    You might be better off taking a dark glass bottle and cutting it down with a glass cutter from the craft store. The color is part of the glass already. Wine, beer, milk of magnesia, something from the craft store all have good color.
