Can I spray paint my 1994 Honda Xr100?

I want to spray paint the plastics on my 1994 xr100 can I? If so what kind of spray paint and how many coats should I put on.

Sure.Just make sure you clean the plastics good with hot soap and water,dry thoroughly,then clean again with rubbing alcohol.Next you will need a plastics adhesion promoter,available at auto paint stores in spray can form-Bulldog works great(very important,as paint will not stick to untreated plastics.Follow directions on can,then apply 4 or 5 coats paint.If you get scratches later on,just recoat with more paint.

Even if it looks good when you finish it will crack, peel and look like c**p before long. Just check on UFO aftermarket plastics for your bike.

i just got done painting my bike a couple of weeks ago with just sand paper/spray paint.... no sand blasting or professional gun.. you can see what it looks like by clicking my profile and going to my 360 page... it used to be silver with black and white plastics... now it's neon green with all black plastics...

use kyrlon fusion, it's made for spray painting plastics... sand it with a really fine sand paper first to take all the 'shine' off the plastic, then use soap and water and wash it, then dry with a lint free cloth or tact cloth. let it FULLY dry (any water residue is likely to mess your paintjob up) touch it as little as possible (i try to hold on to one spot of the part to be painted and paint everything around my fingers, and then either let that dry for an hour so you can touch it, or just grab it by somewhere that you won't see anyways and finish up the job...

shouldn't take more then 2-3 coats.... really depends on how light you lay them down.

if you use kyrlon fusion you need no extra primer or prep (infact, DO NOT use them) kyrlon fusion is manufactured to SPECIFICLY coat plastics.... it needs no surface prep.
