Can I start a wireless connection with a cable broadband connection?

Hello, I have comcast broadband internet access and have some video games that I want to connect to the online world. My brother says he started a wireless connection with his broadband cable connection and now he plays videogames online. Does anyone has any info about this?

If you have a broadband connection, then you can play online with anyone as long as you have set up the accounts at the game sites. You do not have to be "wireless" to do this. Just connect the game console to your modem or (better yet) router

Wireless just replaces the cable to the router with radio
