Is it possible to start my own business hooking up televisions and home theater systems? If so, how old do I have to be? I know that Best Buy's Geek Squad does that too, but I would like to start my own business.

  1. Sure it's possible...it will cost you one or two hundred to incorporate (depending on your state) and then from there you really shouldn't have too many extra costs.

When starting out obviously go with friends and family first...then maybe an ad in the local papers, or if u have friends that work in the electronic departments of like sears or k-mart you could have them like hand out your business cards to customers in return for a small cut of profits...h**l u could probably even partner with some of the smaller electronic providers doing a percentage per referral partnership, pick up a few employees, maybe a van or two, and be competing with the geek squad in your area by next year.

Oh, and if you ever get to expanding your business i know that internet installation (hookup, wireless, etc.) is a big pain for a lot of people and could provide an alternate revenue stream for you.

PS. You should definitely look into getting a separate work phone number, email, and, if u can afford it, a website (that way when people type 'TV installation' into google for your area your website will automatically come up).

Good Luck, oh and don't let this go to voting...fulfill your responsibility as an asker and pick a best answer.

Oh, yeah only possible age limit problem would be your state's age limit for starting a business.  Easily gone around by simpling making your parent a non acting, minor shareholder.
