Can I start up my 2000yr challenger 1800 v6 Mercury engine without it being in water?

if so how? do i need to do anything special?

Good question.  It only takes about 35 seconds of dry running to do serious damage to the water pump impeller.  Get a garden hose attachment at walmarts, bps, west marine, any marine store.

Do not start with out water connected or the water pump with destroy>Get a Mercury flush unit> connect & turn water on>
