I just turned 13. It has not been that long ago. My mom and dad left for a couple hours last night and got me a babysitter. Don't you think I am too old?

  1. It kind of depends on you.

There are many 12 and 13 yr olds that are babysitting other children (my 12 yr old is babysitting right now as a matter of fact)

But some kids are not ready for the responsibility of being alone.

So its up to your parents.  Discuss it with them, if they think you are ready they will save the $25 by not having to hire a babysitter.  I would definitely bring it up.

  2. sure but no WEED it ruins ur body or parnography

  3. Plz when I wuz 8 i could be left alone for up 2 8 hrs. Butb then again, i'm the kid that sits qiuetly and reads, so i'm freakishy trustable.

  4. In my state, if you are thirteen you are legally allowed to stay home alone, but if your parents want to hire a babysiter, that is their choice, they are your parents. Sorry you are disappointed, but you will get to be on your own soon enough.

  5. That's up to your parents. I would leave my 13 year old cousin with a babysitter.

  6. yeah you are tell em ur not a baby any more and that they dont need to get you a babysitter. ive been staying home alone since i was 9 or 10. Its not that hard to hold down the fort while your parents are out. Im 13 now, and i stay home alone like once every few months because my parents dont go out all that much and usually when they do im out with my friends.

  7. It all depends on the maturity of the kid.  I was able to stay home alone for just a few hours at around 11 or so.  I would say it is a little bit too old for a RESPONSIBLE 13 year old.  Show you're responsible and you will receive the treatment and rewards that go with it!

  8. I have been staying home since I was like 11, and that was for like an hour or 2. When I was 12, it was a the same. When I turned 13 I finally got the opportunity to stay home for quite a while...( over 3 hours). By the time I turned 14...i have had many 5, 8, 10 ,12 hour periods alone...but I have always been quite mature and my parents consider me rly responsible...lol I rly aren't that much more responsiblr than I used to be...lol...but the house is always the same as when they left...so....

it all depends on how responsible you are....if you think of yourself responsible talk to your parents about it and tell them you are responsible enough to handle staying home alone at age 13

EDIT: the answer below me is also true...maybe if they do let you stay home alone, it can be quite scary especially at night...so if you kind of get scared easily...I wouldn't recomended it

  9. No,I am 13 years old and I still have one.I am afraid to stay alone.

  10. alot of it depends on how responsible you are.  If you behave responsibly, you will earn that privildge with time.  They care about you and that is a good thing.  Don't forget that.

  11. I was 12 and I could stay home for up to 2 days... I think you should talk to your parents about it.

  12. It all depends on the issue. If you are mature enough to be alone you should be fine.

  13. Generally speaking, I would say that at age 13, you should be able to stay alone for a few hours, but there is still conditions that would apply.  Have you given your parents reasons to distrust you?  Do you take responsibility for yourself and your things?  Do you help out around the house?  Do you do as your told without giving them attitude?  If you are a good kid, have a reasonable discussion with them (no whining) and explain how you feel, and give them some good reasons why you are responsible enough to stay home alone.

  14. yep you're a teen, i was 11 wen i could stay home alone. i think your parents should trust you but ask them why they don't, it's all about trust.

  15. Not according to YOUR parents and they are the ones who set the rules in their home.

  16. I'm 13 and I can stay alone for however long my parents are gone!!

  17. I think you should be allowed to stay home alone but for short periods of time and probably not at night!

If your parents are gone for a max of 2 hours you should be fine.

As long as you don't use the stove, matches or anything like that!
