Question:

Can I still achieve high levels of focus and enlightenment while taking psychotropics?

I must take psychotropic medication due to a mental illness, and ever since I began them my mind always feels fuzzier. I have also found that meditation has become exponentially more difficult (even though I didn't seriously begin until after meds).

Are there any tips that I might use when trying to meditiate while on mental medications?

  1. hmm maybe talk to your doctor about things you could do to feel better or  about switching your meds.anything i know about meds for depression or mental illness are suppossed to make you feel better not fuzzy.but im not a doctor so please dont hang on to my word.talk to your doctor he/she is the only one that can really help you.

  2. With practice it is possible to focus while under the influence of alcohol or pot, it all depends on how determined you are. Enlightenment does not exist straight, stoned or medicated.

It all starts with intent, ignore the mental fuzziness and concentrate on your breathing/relaxation.
