Question:

Can I still be good at acting if I'm shy?

Some of my friends, and people that don't even know eachother, say that I should be an actress for different reasons. But I don't see what they see because I am REALLY shy, especially infront of lots of people I don't know. When I do presentations in class, I'm like the worst, and I'm not just thinking that. My voice is constricted, I shake, and my face turns red.

However, I can cry on cue, and am good at telling stories to friends, I like to pretend to be different people so I feel more confident. I've always been more artsy than academic. I think I would like acting if I had the confidence.

  1. Most actors happen to be really shy people. Acting is a ton of fun and its worth giving it a try. Just get out there and do your best. You will be glad that you did not let your shyness stop hold you back.

  2. You just need to develop your exposure to auditions and acting.

  3. Why do you want to be and actress then?

  4. I love acting and I'm shy. But like the other person said, when I'm acting I'm not myself and I don't think of being shy - I am my character. Once you act more and you're around more people you will eventually start to break out of your shell more. There's a lot of actors who are shy. God bless...

  5. Yes but acting will break you out of your shyness.

  6. I think you can do it!

I think that you will stop being shy if you practise on talking and acting infront of people. If acting is what you want to do then go for it! :-)

  7. Im a shyer person but if i like what im acting/teaching i dont even care its fun and i can do it.
