Can I still become a pilot?

I want to be an Airline Pilot, but my grades in school are horrible. also I don't know any colleges that would accept me for the grades that I have. Most airline companies want someone with a 4 year degree and Pilot experience. Is college even an option for me anymore?

  1. You can always start over at a community college, regardless of your previous grades.

The question you need to ask yourself is "Why are my grades so bad, and am I ready to make the changes that will make it possible for me to do better?"

Until you are sure you can do better from the inside out, you will find that a professional aviation career is closed to you for many reasons that may not be directly related to your grades.

    Good luck!

  2. well, that may be ok

  3. just try harder and dont give up. forget the past and concentrate on future. good luck

  4. Airlines want people who can fly. They want pilots. Your Hours and ratings are what's important. You can learn to fly at any FBO school (fixed base operator). Enjoy the road, enjoy flying. Try it out, work towards your private pilot rating first.

Don't see it as a job from Day One.

  5. College is always an option. If worse comes to worse go to community college and work your tail off and try to raise your GPA. After you get your GPA up then you can apply for 4 year schools. Theres always away to work around bad grade...unfortunately it does require lots of hard work and time devoted to your studies. If your determined then you can do it.

  6. the 4 year degree requirement has really become a non-issue with the airlines today.  they are hurting for pilots, and they will hire with a high school diploma.  there's no getting around the flying experience part, but you don't need to go to college to get that.  but college is always an option,  as stated in the other answers.  so if college is what you want to do, give it a try.  but don't let not having a college degree discourage you from becoming an airline pilot.
