Can I still exchange faced out currencies into say Sterling pounds?

eg. Dutch Gilders, Francs, Deutsch Marks...etc. Can I exchange in UK? What about Chinese currencies such as Chinese Yuan-Renminbi and Taiwanese/NT Dollar, where in UK can I exchange them into other currencies? Do exchange counters usually not accept coins? and the minimum amount of each transation has to be how much in GBR? Thank you

    No, you can't.


  2. You can usually exchange old currency for the modern currency in the issuing country.  It's only worth considering a world tour to do this if you've got a lot of expired money.  UK Exchange dealers will only buy current foreign notes.

  3. The only way you can still exchange these currencies in at the national bank of each country - e.g. Banque de France (French francs). They will not accept coins and will not accept each other's currencies

    If you have a small amount of each and are not planning on visiting on a tour of Europe, you can also give them to charity (who can get both notes and coins changed for free and therefore make the most out of the money)
