  1. It might but they will require you to take a special test because I have a friend that lost his eye and he was required to take special testing for this and he passed, it will be alot harder but good luck.

  2. having my CDL i can tell you that will be a BIG problem. its not a state thing. its a FEDERAL thing. it just depends on how bad off you are. if you have a REALLY hard time then you wont get your CDL. sorry man. i'm pullin for ya though! we need more people with CDL's

  3. it shouldnt, you may be required to wear a hearing aid though, and to honest with you,the way most people drive anymore and have little to no respect for the other guy,and you driving a tractor trailer,it may not be a bad idea.

  4. DOT Regulations on hearing:391.41 page 358

First perceives a forced whispered voice in the better ear at not less than 5 ft with or without the use of a hearing aid or if tested by use of an audiometric device, does not have an average hearing loss in the better ear greater than 40 decibels at 500Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without a hearing aid when the audiometric device is calibrated to American National standards.

To answer your question directly yes you can drive a truck but you may be required to wear a hearing aid. If you still don't met their qualifications WITH a hearing aid then you will be disqualified from the CDL
