  1. What is your RE code? If it is RE-1 or 2, then it should be fine. Just say you got a medical discharge. As long as your discharge is not a dishonerable one, you should be fine.

  2. Not unless a doctor give you a clean bill of health and depression isn't a clean bill of health.  In the public eye, you're loony and you'll need drugs to keep you in a working condition.  Those drugs will keep you from being safe on the job.

Dude, I've been reading some of your post and you've been giving some really wrong answers.  Yo might want to reconsider answering some of these questions if you really don't know the answer.  No offense, just trying to help out and keep you from getting suspended by Yahoo.  One former Marine to another.

  3. Can I ask why you were discharged for depression?

  4. Usually the only way to get admin seped for depression is if you cut yourself and stuff like that, now if something like that is on your record then no you probably will not be able to get a government job, however if your medical record is clear and you didnt do anything like that then you probably can after about 6 months.

  5. Maybe. Most City/State/Federal jobs require anyone applying who is a veteran to have been discharged with an honorable discharge.

Some agencies will determine that your 'general' is not a fully honorable discharge.

    Others will consider it OK.

You might want to be more concerned about the situation that brought on your discharge. Most agencies, especially larger cities, most state positions and ALL Federal jobs will do a background investigation that will include your depression and related situations.

That might be a bigger 'roadblock' than the general discharge.

    Good Luck.

  6. You should. If you had a clearance it might be little different. But as a Vet I think there are problems that might assist you in gaining employment as a government employee. Have you went to TAMP class already (The class you attend prior to separation)? Talk to your PSD and they should be able to point you in the right direction. I'm sorry if you don't understand the jargon, I'm prior Navy. But your Admin people might be able to assist you. And don't forget (PLEASE DO NOT FORGET) To go to some of the companies websites and post your resume, as well as put it up on Monster.com. Thats how I got my first job with Lockheed Martin.
