Question:

Can I still get scholarships if I move to Florida after High-School?

I am now in high-school and I currently live in Tennessee, but I would rather go to college in Florida.

If I go to a community college and live in Florida, for two-three years, THEN switch to a Florida University and still get scholarships?

This means that I can get scholarships with my 3.8 gpa and my 32 act score, and my 2100 SAT score.

Please and thank you.:]

  1. Alice:

I think you might be referring to some information you have heard about Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship program. Florida does have a very strong program that is designed to encourage bright Florida high school grads to stay in state for college.

Unfortunately, you can only qualify for a Bright Futures Scholarship by attending a Florida high school. You can not qualify for the program with grades earned in a community college or in a 4-year institution.

That being said, you would certainly be eligible for any private or institutional scholarships offered by organizations, or by the university itself. Your grades and test scores are excellent, and you should be rightfully proud of them.

One more thing to suggest - be sure that you are aware of, and understand Florida's tuition residency laws. You can not earn Florida residency if you move to the state for the specific purpose of attending college. It will not matter if you live here for one year, two years or 10 years - if you come to Florida specifically to attend college, you can not earn Florida residency, and you will be required to pay out-of-state tuition all the way through school.

I hope that helped you. Good luck!

  2. Hello how are you?  You will absolutely be able to get scholarships. What I suggest you do is use a scholarship search. A scholarship search allows you to create a profile and receive information for all the scholarships that you are eligible to apply for based on your profile description. Scholarshipsupport.com actually has 2 free scholarship searches available right now. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

  3. It's Canadian site, so here education is different from US.

Also at high school we have percents.

  4. You should be able to, especially if your CC grades are still good. Go Gators.
