Can I still sponsor if I am now a university student? Canada to Costa Rica?

I am sponsoring him to Canada From Costa Rica.....I need to know...we are already in the process, waiting for the results from the fingerprints. During this time, I decided I could no longer hold off on my desire to attend university. I am wondering and hoping this won't cause trouble of some kind and negatively affect our case.

Your status as a student is the condition that goes with sponsoring a person.  Thus, go on with your studies so that you could sponsor him to to Canada.

well as a sponsor you are financially responsible for him for over 2 years after he arrives, they may say that you are unable to support him while a student/while not making enough money to support him
