Question:

Can I still use checks with my old address?

I recently moved and now have 3 boxes of unused checks with my old address on them. I have updated my address with my bank so that my statement comes to my new address, but now I'm not sure about the checks. Could I just write my new address on it? I don't want to throw those away and it takes me forever to go through checks, as I only use them to send off bills.

  1. Yes

  2. I limit such checks to bills.  I cross out the address--draw one line through it--and use the check anyway. That way no one is likely to be helpful and update the account adddress.

  3. Yes, I used to do that a lot.  Just cross out the new address.

The important things are your account number folio and branch number.  As long as they're still written on there with your name, its fine.

  4. i do and have never had a problem....i do most of my bills on the computer
