Question:

Can I still use my old snowboard?

I have a Burton snowboard that I purchased in like 1995. I moved away from the cold in 2001 and haven't been back since. The snowboard was in great condition when I last used it and I'm going on a trip up North. Is there anything wrong with using my old board? It was an expensive snowboard and I took good care of it. Have there really been that many improvements or am I just old and dorky?

  1. As long as the size of the board still fits you, you should be good.  Wax and tune it and you are good to go.

  2. Ride it anyway!  You'll look like an OG boarder ridin' an old deck.  Fashion repeats itself anyway so chances are you'll see boards like yours in the stores in a matter of years.

Take it into a shop and have them tune it up before you go but you should be fine.

  3. Of course you can use it! the snow doesn't change right? And since it is in great condition, why not? Really nobody really cares or should care who got the latest snowboard.

    Hope this helps!

  4. If its in good condition and you can still use it, go for it.

  5. Check to make sure the layers aren't separating, and the board isn't warped (twisted). If it all looks good just tune your edges and wax it (or have it waxed) and ride.

  6. If it's in good condition and fits, you can still use it.  You'll want to recheck your bindings though to make sure everything is tight, and you might want to take it to a shop to get it waxed and tuned or detuned.
