Can I stop garnishment of my wages for a spousal debt in a community property state?

  1. I'm assuming it's a wage garnishment for a debt from a creditor or government agency...and not child support because they usually garnish only the paternal parent.  The only way to "stop" it is to pay it off in full or contact the creditor and set up a payment plan they'll agree to and have the garnishment released in which case it's got to be real close to what their getting from garnishing you.  More times then not since they had to go as far garnishing you since you or your spouse didn't make voluntary payments with them in the past.
