Question:

Can I sue Best Buy for false advertising?

I just saw an ad that showed a family with a college student shopping for laptops and not getting any help anywhere....except best buy. And if I just shop at Best Buy all my shopping woes will be solved. But...the last time I was at Best Buy NO ONE would help me. There was a group of them talking then they all ran away when I approached. When I finally near tackled a worker to get a price check on an item he just looked at us and said "$49.99". Well, it was $29.99. Then when I needed to return the item WITH a receipt it was 31 days after purchase so I could not return it and the guy treated me like I was a thief. So can I sue them for false advertising? Because in my experience they are not helpful nor do they make life easier??

  1. Probably not.

For you to truly sue them for false advertising you would have to show that they promised fast service in their ads and that they in actuality never provided fast service and that they knew they were lying when they created the ad.  They gave you bad service.  Something Best Buy is quite famous for.  However, you will have no luck when you try to sue them.  You will probably just lose a lot of time and money in the process.

What you can do is share your story on some of the blogs about bad customer service.  www.consumerist.com would be one to share your story with.

  2. ...not getting any help anywhere.

    ...woes...

    ...NO ONE

    ...tackled.

  3. Go for it.....You won't win and you will waste a TON of money but go for it!
