Can I sue Geico for the Caveman commercials?

I am sure you have all seen the caveman commercials that Geico have out. "It so easy a caveman can do it"

Well let say that Geico said "Its so easy a slave or black person could do it" there would definitally be lawsuits against them then.

I am sure that some of our roots came from cavemen. Are they not poking fun at our ancestors. Not that I do but what if I found this offensive since some of my ancestors could have very possibly been cavemen.

  1. Hollywood has contacted Geico for the movie rights to those 'sensitive' caveman characters.  You're gonna have to file an awfully big lawsuit.

  2. I agree don't sue, these are funny. Plus they went with a caveman because as far as we all know there isnt a cavemen anywhere around to get ticked off. Perfectly fine humor I think, if someone is offended by it then just change the channel. Problem solved

  3. dont sue them!!!! i love those commercials.. theyre funny.. althought if they said black person or something it wouldnt be funny because there are black people but no cavemen anymore

  4. Today filing is easy. But carrying out to the bitter end of a lawsuit is the thing. Unless you have money and time you'd better 1st have a case.

  5. Sure you can go ahead and sue.  But no judge would take this claim seriously, and the case would be thrown out of court in a second.  You would probably then be COUNTERSUED by GEICO or slapped with some kind of nuisiance lawsuit charge.

  6. No, you can't sue, but I can.  I'm a caveman, and this is deplorable to my people and I.

  7. The problem with this is that only people who believe in evolution would necessarily be affected by the Geico commercial poking fun at ancestry.  Even then it has been biologically proven that earily man did not possess the same level of intellect as modern man although I have seen some cases where that may not be true.

  8. you have to have 'standing' to bring a lawsuit and i doubt you do.

  9. It is tiring, turn the station. and, I don't think so.

  10. So you descended from a caveman?

  11. I'm a former GEICO employee and actually am part of a class-action lawsuit against them for unpaid overtime wages.  It's been going on for 6 years with no end in sight.  GEICO has tons of money for lawyers.

There is every kind of lawsuit out there imaginable though so I say go for it!  If you could get some DNA evidence showing that you are a descendant of someone who lived in caves (anyone!!) and show how you've been emotionally damaged from the commercials you just might pull it off.  Probably not though.

  12. I think if you're a rather hairy metro-sexual who rides moving sidewalks, sees a psychiatrist, and has appeared on Night-line, you may have a case.

  13. umm good luck with that

  14. Based on the morphological features of the characters in those commercials, I think they are portraying Neanderthals and just using the more general term "caveman." Both Neaderthals and anatomically modern humans lived in caves. While there is some evidence that modern humans and neaderthals intermixed, I do not believe there is enough evidence for you to claim patrilineage, matrilineage, or cultural affiliation at this time. So I don't believe your lawsuit would be successful.

There probably would be lawsuits if the commercial used black people instead of cavemen. But they didn't. They didn't use Arabs, Hungarians, Caucasians, or Pacific Islanders, either. Interesting how you used the example you did.

  15. Speaking on behalf of all cavewomen, I will say that the commercials are hilarious.  I have a sense of humor and I can laugh at myself.  No lawyer in the world would ever take your case, because it has no chance of winning anything or getting anywhere.  Now if you will excuse me, I need to hunt a saber tooth tiger with my club.

  16. Yeah well is a fun thought but I think you know that would never go very far. Most people never really get to court for law suits it is usually settled out of court as the places don't want bad image. as for claims such as yours they would not take it seriously

  17. lol, why is this on Yahoo!?

    LMBAO!
