My parents were never married. They lost touch with each other when I was little and he found me again about a year ago asking me to meet him.

  1. No, in most states now you can only get backsupport from the point it was filed.  So if your mom would have filed when you were a baby and he never paid or was behind and your mother died then you could collect the support but if your mom is still alive she would get the support. But you can't just decide at 20 years old that you are going to sue your father for support because he came back into your life.

  2. no. you are now an adult. it is your mother that should have tried for that. many many years ago

  3. If your mother never requested child support, it may be hard to make a case. But if she did want child support, and let him know that she did, and he just wasn't coughing it up, you may have a case.

  4. great question!!!

  5. oh h**l yeah you can he will have to pay for all the missed child support!!!

my brother is 30 and in jail and my mom never filed for child support until 6 years ago to pay lawyer fees and he has to send the support payments evry 2 weeks saw the papers my self babes so go right ahead!!! they even located him at another job when he tried to dodge some payments, and now because he gets paid more he has to send more!!
