I was involved in this but I hit her in self defense she came to my neighborhood with 5 other girls and they tried to jump me and surrounded me and were pushing me around until I swung with the nearest thing I could find.

  1. There is always a fine line that is a tightrope, and then there is SPIN!

  2. If you're Megan and you were arrested, your arrest is a public record and there's nothing to prohibit the newspaper from publishing the information.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there ya go.

  3. No, there is no personal information in the article.

  4. Why did you steal her purse and cell phone?

    And no you can't sue.

  5. What you say doesn't have a ring of truth to it.  If it was just self defense, you wouldn't have stolen her purse and phone.  You need to stop acting like a primate in the jungle and try acting like a lady.  What's wrong with you people?

  6. Yes, you can sue them for defamation of character if the information they provided is wrong.

    Call up an attorney.

  7. No you can't sue the newspaper because the only thing they gave was your name.  This information is in the public record in your arrest report.

If you had been able to sue, you would have just ruined your chances of winning by "publishing" the record on the internet.  It would be hard to prove they caused damages in a local newspaper when you publish it on yahoo.

The self-defense claim probably isn't the best move since you took her purse and cell phone.
