This is the situation. I have a brand new game that I've tried to play on my 1-yr-old laptop, but am unable to because the chipset is not supported. I have a totally defunct 3 and half-yrs-old laptop that nevertheless does have a supported chipset. Is there anything I can do?

Computer 1 is a Toshiba Satellite with Vista, Computer 2 (the RIP one) is an hp Pavilion with XP.

  1. I don't think you can switch out chipsets easily. If it was just a processor, that would be one thing. Imagine yanking one of these ? http://support.intel.com/support/chipset...

Toshiba has a good website as you dig around and can find loads of info on the tech specs for your laptop.

  2. I would say no. Technology is 2½ years apart for a start and you would have to be a high tec specialist to do it.
