Question:

Can I switch Car Insurance 2 weeks later if I am financing a car?

I bought a car and I am financing it through the dealership. I got it insured but now I found a cheaper premium through a different Insurance Company, so I would like to switch. This is about 2 weeks after I put it on the original Insurance Company.

And is there a fee for canceling the Insurance so I could switch to the other company?

  1. usually there is no fee with canceling your insurance--  you will get billed for any days that you were insured after your last payment--  like the person suggested in the other reply, make sure your new policy is in effect prior to canceling the old one--  the finance company does not care who your carrier is, just as long as all minimum requirements are met

  2. I'm no expert on this, but I would suggest you have a look here, there is expert's ideas you mayfind.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  3. Switching shouldn't be a problem and insurance companies don't charge you to cancel. Try using http://My-InsuranceSearch.com to compare car insurance rates for all the major providers in your area.

  4. Shouldn't be a problem, but lock in the new insurance policy and premium first, before you cancel the old one. Sometimes, the act of cancelling a policy marks you as a switcher and may affect the quote.

  5. I also agree with previous commenters.

I personally switched my car insurance ( from dealership to cheaper plan - http://autoinsurance.maclenet.com ) and it saved me about 30% of money.

  6. You can switch at any time.
