  1. Good question! I've never seen that happen. Doesn't mean that it couldnt. Since qualifications can vary from state to stae, it would probably be wise to check with the Board of the state you are testing in to see if you could.

  2. For the EIT/FE it doesn't matter it's all the same test - you just do the sections you want and skip those you don't.  Same is true for the PE you can take the test in whatever discipline you want it doesn't have to match up with your degree (as long as you have one from an ABET accredited school). But for the PE you have to pick what field you want to take when you sign up because the tests are all different (electrical, civil, mech, etc).  Good luck - these tests are no fun to take...!

  3. I'm not sure where you are, but here, in the province of Ontario, Canada, sending the Profession (PEO) a copy of your transcript, an application form, and the necessary fee is enough to become an "Engineer In Training (EIT)" regardless of your discipline.

Upon acceptance, write the ethics exam and the law exam, complete the 4 years of work experience, and you'll receive your P.Eng. license - once again, regardless of discipline.

If you're not in Canada, check with whatever governing body issues licenses in your jurisdiction.
