Can I switch my tongue ring even though I ripped it?

i slightly ripped my tongue piercing due to piercing. I really need to change the ring though because its getting really nasty with plaque and stuff. do i have to wait for the ripp to heal?

outch! i would take out the ring

and just let your heal! don't do

anything with it for about 1 month

then when it's alll better. then do it.
