I know you can't take baths if you had to get stitches, but I had no tearing no stitchings. So are baths ok?

  1. the nurses will tell when you can bathe and give you directions

  2. I was told to wait to take a true bath.  I think that there is a potential for infection even if you did not have any tearing that required stitches.  I know you can take a quick sitz bath in really clean water.

  3. You can give birth in your own tub, you can take a bath.  Your cervix at this point is closed, unlike when you birth in the tub.  Also, if you take a bath during menstruation you will notice you don't bleed into the tub, the body protects itself -the same happens after birth.

If you are really paranoid add a 1/4-1/3 cup of salt to the water.

  4. Call your doc.

  5. Ask your doctor. They should have told you this before you left the hospital. Is it written in the paperwork they sent you home with?

  6. I'd say shower is better, but if you want to sit in the tub, just clean up first, then fill it up and relax!

  7. You can take a bath with or without stitches.  Some hospitals even use a sitz bath for helping ease the pain after childbirth.

  8. I can't think of any reason why not. I had 2 kids so far.... I believe a nice warm bath would probablly make you feel pretty good. If you are still having a lot of bleeding- you maybe would rather a shower. I wouldn't recommend tampons- but otherwise I believe you would be fine. Just be gentle cleansing in the areas where you are still healing. Congrats on your new blessing and good luck!
