I'm soon to be traveling to Sydney Australia, and have noticed that it would be cheaper to buy a ticket from where I live to LA and a ticket from LA to Sydney than it would be to book a flight from where I live to Sydney

can I do this?

  1. Yes, Why not?

  2. Sure you can.  There are many direct flites from LA to Sydney nonstop.  Air New Zealand, Quantas, to name only a couple of Airlines.  You can also get flites which stop in Hawaii, Tahiti or Fiji if you want to stop off somewhere on the way.  Long stop overs you can get out of the Airport and see the islands if you want, short stop overs  you are stuck in the Airport and can only look out the window and wish you could get out.  Most flites though are nonstop.  Have a good trip.

  3. But, that might mean you need to fly from Sydney to LA first,

then LA to Sydney on the flight back.

Do you live in LA? Because, you cannot fly from Sydney to LA first, if you are already living there?

I would contact the airline first, if I was you!

  4. Yes you can. Go to this web site, and choose the multiple cities search option. I did what you are considering for a flight from Anchorage to New York City, and then another one from NYC/JFK to my destination in Europe. I missed my connecting flight to Europe because of bad  weather over NYC, and I was stuck because it was on two different airlines. Something to consider.

  5. $2022

Depending on dates there are going to be some great deals...Virgin is starting a LA to SYD flight - looks like Dec 15 2008 on .....good luck

  6. i don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to do this. do you mean booking on two different airlines through different agents? this can get a little tricky if you don't have much of a layover and the first flight gets delayed. then you might be SOL and miss your second flight. but, if you can work it out with the scheduling, i'd say go for whatever is cheapest.
