  1. Acela Express can make it from NYC to Boston in 3.5 hours.

    Amtrak Regional can make the same trip in a little over 4 hours.

    Blame the Metro North segment of track from New Rochelle to New Haven which keeps the Acela trains at 75 MPH.


  2. yes two ways to do it...

    fastest and most expensive..take Amtrak straight from Penn Station to South station.

    a little slower and a lot less expensive...Go to Grand Central Station, and take the Metro North Line to New Haven, CT, then catch an Amtrack train from New Haven to South Station in Boston. Probably save you 50 bucks.

    depending on how you time your connections, you ought to be able to do it the cheap way in about 4 hours.
