Can I take all my files off my hard drive and transfer them?

Is it possible to transfer all files off my hard drive and put them on a portable,so then this way I will have more space on my hard drive?If not then how can I get more space on my hard drive?I already deleted unnecessary files but I'm still getting the low disc warning.Please help!!

  1. You can defrag and do a disk cleanup.  Disk cleanup is located under programs -- accessories -- system tools -- disk cleanup.  Defrag is here too.  For a better clean use http://www.ccleaner.com/.

    You can transfer all you files to an external HD, but it would be best to transfer all Music, Picutres, and Video only.  These things can take a ton of space.  Moving these will free up a lot fo space.


  2. deleting files does nothing. what you do is you uninstall the recycle bin, so nothing is saved once deleted. then change the settings so that when you log out, all files not on the portable are deleted. its high risk, but is better than a crashed computer

  3. rather less drastic than uninstalling the bin is to empty it & reduce the amount of space it takes up.

    You can find this setting by right clicking on the bin.
