I need to get trained in cpr. I am a teacher and I was wondering if I did take an online cpr course if it would be accepted as valid or do I need to go through the American Red Cross?

  1. Most of the on-line only 'certifications' are not accepted by most employers, or as pre-req's for most programs. In fact, most places only accept American Red Cross, American Heart Association or the National Safety Council- all of whom require a hands-on portion for certification.

Heck, I teach for one of these groups weekly, and once I year I have to do a recert myself to keep current- hands-on in front of a certified instructor.

  2. CPR is hands on.  technique is watched and also recorded on dummies to be sure you are doing it right.....

Call your red cross chapter or even your hospital for certification schedules.....

Make sure you get Defibulation in your cert.  I know years ago, CPR-D was an extended course to go over the older defibulators.  I believe that today it is mandatory.....

  3. NO!!! CPR is a HANDS ON activity.
