  1. I am a Dr and I am not giving advice but I have..if one isn't cuttin it, two will not doing anything either. I stopped taking those cause I felt they wired me and kept me up!  Just my little old oppinion.

  2. Hi. I take Ambien for sleep too. I take 5mg to 10mg pill as needed (2 - 3 times a week).

When I have trouble sleeping I take one 10mg pill or half, but sometimes it doesn't put me to sleep so I take another 5mg less than an hour from taking the first pill, which equals to 10mg to 15mg taken within an hour, but I usually wake up groggy the next day.

Ambien has a short half-life, about 2 hours.

(a half-life is the time it takes for a substance (i.e. a drug) to lose half of its concentration in your body) so in 7 hours the Ambien should be completely out of your system.

So in short, yes you can take another one but you might wake up groggier than you would normally be after taking an Ambien. I don't recommend doing this everyday as you may build up a tolerance to the Ambien or even become dependent on it.

Personally, I don't like Ambien because if I take it every night even in small doses for a week it starts to become less effective and I have to take a break from it for a week or so for it to become effective again.

Good luck, and I hope you can sleep again without the Ambien. :)
