I have asked a few questions about clomid and provera but the most important thing that I am wanting to know is can I take clomid without a period? I have psoc and do not have a period on my own so my doc gave me provera. I took 10mg for 10 days and today is 16 days after the last pill and no signs of a period coming. So, I talked to someone one fertilityties and she told me that she had the same problem and she called her specialist and he said that there was no medical reason that you have to have a period first and that the main reason they want us to bleed first is so that we know our cd. Is this true? I start clomid last night so I am hoping that I didnt mess up? Anyone went through this before? Thanks for the info

  1. You should not have taken the clomid unless your doctor told you that it is ok to take without your period.  I definitely think you shouldn't have taken that.  You need to go to a reproductive endocrinologist or a OBGYN that knows about PCOS.  I have PCOS and have not been diagnosed with it til I just recently went to a really awesome doctor who knows about PCOS.  I have not had a regular period...some spotting but thats it...for about 6 years.  but I am now taking Metformin and have been for about 3 months and last month I had my first REAL period.  I'd suggest getting on this.  Getting pregnant is something you have to be really patient with.  If you are you'll have a better pregnancy and appreciate it so much more.  Also, if you do your research and talk to your doctor before you do something that you're not sure of you're going to save your self time and money.

  2. try to get the answer in fertilityties from the actual fertility specialists, most doctors will require that you have a period before taking Clomid, not sure if a few exceptions doctors do the opposite, but anything is possible, but gotta go with the majority, so ask directly to the fertility specialists on fertilityties for an accurate answer!! since probably the answer you got was from another user who happened to have that experience....but like i said that seems the exception more than the rule...

    good luck!!!

  3. NO you MUST take it when you have a period, who ever told you you don't is an idiot. Clomid works along side what your body is already doing, and hence the timing of the tablets works in conjunction so that ovulation occurs as naturally as possible even though a med is the cause.  You need your period first, don't start without your period or you'll just be wasting the clomid.
