Question:

Can I take food into France?

Not as daft as it sounds as I have been refused this in other countries! I am holidaying in a French villa this summer and travelling from the UK by Eurotunnel. I have 1 child with food allergies so hope to pack the car boot with some things I know he can eat whilst we are there such as breakfast cereal, tins of tuna, beans, mayo... just some basics, nothing fresh. Does anyone know if there are there any restrictions in place to prevent me doing this? Thanks.

  1. yes you can because you are travelling within the EU

  2. I live in France and when we come back to the UK for Christmas every year we always take back a big box of British food that you can't get in France.

We've never had a problem at all.

I reckon the only thing they might not like is fresh meat since there's always some sort of scare on (hard to keep up with what it's safe to eat these days..), but since you say you aren't taking any fresh stuff you should be absolutely fine.

    Enjoy the holiday!

  3. really? well it ok 2 take food in france, i did.

  4. You can buy all that in France..

  5. I think it must be okay.  My French friend always takes back a bunch of stuff when he visits Atlanta.  Last time, he took back several containers of organic chocolate, two boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts, and assorted other things.
