In case I go into labor alone, without anyone to help me, I'll need to go to the hospital. Is it possible for me to carry my 1 year old baby in a carseat with me?

  1. I am a CCMA

No they will bring the baby to the hospital in a patrol car unless there is a friend or relative that can watch the baby...

It is illegal for ANYONE to ride with a patient besides the EMT's due to insurance and liability reasons

Kris I know for sure I am in the Medical Field

  2. if you can't leave your baby with someone else, then i can't see why you wouldn't be able to take your baby with you in the ambulance.  i highly doubt the ambulance would leave a 1 year old baby alone.  you should really look into having someone else watch over your baby while you are in the hospital.  that will ease the the nurses' burden of taking care of your child while you are preparing to give birth for another.

  3. If your alone when in labor of course you can take your child into the ambulance with you that is if you have no one with you.

You can take your child and be sat either on top of or next to you. My sister was in labor and was alone with 3 children when she called the ambulance the ambulance took her 3 children with her and my other sister and i rushed to the hospital once she was in labor and called my home.

We rushed to the hospital so the ambulance will take your child with you when in labor and alone so they will do that.

  4. If the ambulance arrived and you had no one to care for your one year old, they would call the local pd, or the department of human services.  Your child would not be "taken" from you, it would just be temporary until you were released from the hospital.

  5. Will you need an ambulance when you go into labor? There is usually plenty of time to get to the hospital before it's an emergency. If it does become an emergency and you DO need to take your 1 year old, what is going to happen to the baby when you are in delivery? You will certainly not be able to keep track of a child when you are giving birth. My advice is to find someone to babysit when it's time to go to the hospital.

  6. Well I'm sure the paramedics wouldn't knowingly leave a child a lone. The could get in a lot of trouble for child endangerment (any one could actually), so I'm guessing that if bringing the 1 year old was the only option, that's what they'd do. But if you're afraid of going into labor a lone, why not call a good friend, and have her stay with you for a few days around your due date. That way, you won't have to call an ambulance, and she can stay in the waiting room with your other child. Early Congratulations! Hope I helped

  7. Your best bet is to call the hospital ahead of time, and ask them this question. You probably could call CPS or DYFS to assist you in that matter. They do good things too. I've heard that they donate food,  clothes and even give furniture. They have a bad rap, but they do good too.

  8. if you call 911 and they show up and then tell them you have a 1 year old babyy they will help you in some wayyy!!!!

  9. Most likely CPS will step in and offer temporary care for your child if no other person can care for him. Better that then leaving the child with someone you can't trust.

  10. Is that even possible?

  11. To get the best possible answer, call the hospital where you will deliver, ask them in this scenario where you would have the ambulance come get you, if you would be allowed to take your other child. I can't see why not, but to ease your mind, ask the people who will know for sure. Good luck

  12. I...huh? Why would there be an ambulance involved in the first place?

  13. That is something you should call the ambulance company to ask.  All companies are different.  They will want to know who will be keeping the baby once you are giving birth at the hospital.
