Can I take my betta fish on an airplane?

Question

I only ask because I bought a fancy betta for my sister and when I fly out to visit her, I want to take the Betta with me? This is a Canadian flight, domestic.

I don't think the airplane people would appreciate you taking your fish on the flight.  Maybe you should consider shipping the betta?  Bettas are labyrinth fish, so as long as you leave them some air they can breathe.  They do very well shipped.  Here's a nice webpage describing how, and your local post office will also have good advice:  http://www.petfish.net/articles/How_To/s...

A lot of bettas are shipped through the mail.  Faith from bettatalk.com ships all her bettas and they nearly all survive.  I think she has like a 99% survival rate.  Just use the fastest possible shipping method, like she does, and follow the suggestions on that webpage I gave a link to earlier.  And make sure to ask your post office for advice.

There are restrictions on carrying fluids onto aircraft these days, call the airline.

no cuz now if u are getting on a plane then u have to have all of ur liquids in a small baggie so u probally cant unless u ask them or call them up and see if u put it in a bag and put a airstone in there it is a tablet that reeleases oxegen in the water and they take it like a cargo thing

Well, put t in a container with a tight lid, but some air and you have to ask. They might put it in the compressed air section of luggage with other pets, like dogs and cats. Make sure he has clean water before the trip and if you can, check on hi every hour and open the top to allow more oxygen near the water for him to breathe.

lol fed ex good one. but the airliner would take like dogs and stuff and wont take fish because of turbulance and take off. It might spill.
