Can I take rice on flight?

I am planning to take only in luggage but not in my hand bag.

It really depends on where you are traveling. Different countries have different laws for carrying food across their borders. In the US, pack it in your suitcase and you are fine....Ask your ASTA travel agent if you are going international and they will know or find out.

Yes you can. Some countries would check the rice though, so you may need to take it to the quarantine section at the airport.

Additional Info : If you are going to Japan...then YES it is indeed strict with the imports. You would really need to go to the Quarantine Office at the airport. But why bother? ...rice is available everywhere in Japan. Even small convenience store sells rice. Whether uncooked or the microwavable ones.

I don't know if FCC regulations or TSA (Transportation Security Authority) regulations are the same wherever you go but I know that I can take anything in my suitcase and am limited to a predetermined amount of liquids in clear containers in my carry on. Call your airline's toll free info number to find out what the limits are on your liquids that you want to bring. As far as rice, make sure it's in a sealed or zipped container so that it doesn't open up and make a real mess! I've never heard of limitations on dry goods. Have a nice trip!

Yes you can take in your check in baggage, make sure its properly sealed, best thing is to buy branded rice which come with proper sealing and packing so that authorities don't have any problem, if you pack it by yourself, there is suspicion of packing being tampered, that's when they doubt, Mind you they they virtually graze through your baggage.

i think you are aloud certain types of rice

im 100% sure you are not allowed brown rice, and white rice im not sure about.

maybe. I took several bags of chips on Thai Airs and they didn't say anything. The rules aren't that strict. But you can't take any type of liquid.
